Hello lovelies! I’ve been laying low for a few days since I’ve gotten my wisdom teeth removed, so I thought I’d do a little Q&A type of post so my readers can get to know me! I got these questions here 🙂

Without further ado, let’s answer some questions!

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

If I didn’t have to sleep, I would likely spend my time memorizing more songs on guitar!

What’s your favourite piece of clothing you own / owned?

My favourite piece of clothing I own has got to be my polar bear suit from when I was a toddler.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

I’ve always wanted to get into figure skating!

What would your perfect room look like?

My perfect room would definitely be full of luscious plants with a big, fluffy bed… and a huge aquarium for my fish!

How often do you play sports?

I used to play sports around 3 times a week, but since I’ve gotten busier with school it’s been less sports and more hiking on weekends.

What fictional place would you most like to go?

I’d be lying if I said I haven’t always dreamed of going to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory!

I could definitely kick some butt at competitive procrastination 😉 Or making a mess of any room the quickest!

What is the most annoying habit that other people have?

There isn’t much that really annoys me, but one thing that really does is when people don’t use their turn signals while driving.

What job do you think you’d be really good at?

I’m hoping to work in forensics or law of some sort, so I’d like to think I’d be decent at that!

I would love to become great at sewing or painting!

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?

I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland and just camp out for a while!

I would honestly be more than okay with a smaller house, just as long as it had lots of land!

What’s your favourite drink?

Lately I’ve been obsessed with Starbuck’s iced matcha lattes with soy milk! Another all-time favourite has got to be my own iced coffee that I make, but the recipe is staying a secret for now 😉

A detective.

The difference in my life from one year ago until now is INSANE. I probably won’t go into much detail right now, but definitely let me know in the comments if you want to know more! A year ago, I didn’t even think I was going to finish high school. I was being bullied incredibly bad. So bad that I was hospitalized several times and had to transfer schools. . I’ve lost friends to suicide along the way. My mind has been through some of the darkest places, but there has been increasingly more light. I finished grade 11 on schedule and am set to graduate next year. I made the most amazing friends at my new school and I have never been stronger Being crowned Miss Teenage Rockyview has also done wonders for my confidence. I never would have thought a year ago that I’d be where I am today, and I definitely NEVER would have guessed that I’d be on my way to represent my province at Miss Teenage Canada!

The best way to start the day is with a nice stretch, your favourite music, and a delicious breakfast!

I saw a really, really cool painting in a small art store in Banff, I can’t remember exactly what it was since it was so complex but it was full of really neat shapes and contrasting colours!

What’s the best way a person can spend their time?

Doing what they love! So long as it doesn’t harm others, we should all follow our hearts and do what we love to do!

If you suddenly became a master at woodworking, what would you make?

I’d build my parents the log cabin they’ve always wanted.

Where is the most relaxing place you’ve ever been?

The deserts of Arizona!

What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?

My entry into the Miss Teenage Alberta pageant. Since receiving my title, a whole new world of opportunities have opened that I never thought possible! I am forever grateful for the wonderful MTC-W people and my fellow pageant sisters for bringing a whole new light to my life 🙂

I spend a lot of time in Bragg Creek since most of my friends live there.

Where would you spend all your time if you could?

I would spend all of my time in the mountains.

What are you absolutely determined to do?

I am absolutely determined to represent my county and my province the best I possibly can this summer at Miss Teenage Canada. There’s nothing I want more than to do well in the pageant. I want to prove that I am someone. I don’t come from money, I was bullied, but I can be more than that. I can be Miss Teenage Canada!

Hello to all! With school coming to a close, I thought I’d take advantage of this free hour I have in my schedule to tell you all about Calgary’s VegFest 2018.

The day started out as an average Alberta day always does- with crazy unpredictable weather. On this day, Mother Nature decided to mess with us all by alternating between buckets pouring down from the sky and a sunny summer’s day. When I arrived at the festival, the weather didn’t even seem to matter. I was immediately greeted by hundreds of warm smiles and the amazing smells surrounding the tents.

Being an outdoor festival in addition to being a vegan one, dogs were welcomed in all areas. This was amazing news for me because it gave my awkward and introverted self an excuse to just hang out with dogs all day!

The festival was not just limited to vegan food as I had expected. There were so many booths, all with their own thing going on. Some had vegan merchandise, henna tattoos, kombucha (which was AMAZING, by the way) and there were even smaller businesses like shelters and rescue organizations. I spent my day meeting all of the wonderful people who have dedicated all of their time and effort into their businesses, and boy did it sure pay off! There were so many determined, creative and ambitious minds around me that I couldn’t help but to feel inspired myself.

There were also several speakers who presented on the stage. I only had time to listen to a few, but I learned so many amazing facts and tips about veganism. There was a good mix of informational, comedic, and inspirational speeches.

My all time favourite moment had to be what I experienced not too long after my arrival. While I was making my way around and getting a feel for the different tents, I noticed a very large and muscular pitbull sitting by the adoption tent. Having grown up around big dogs my whole life, I nonchalantly knelt down and began petting the dog. That’s when I noticed the little girl standing behind me, staring in awe as I ran my hands over the muscular dog. She turned to her mom and said something along the lines of “mom, the princess is petting him! Why can’t I?” I took my crown off and smiled at the girl, reassuring her that the dog was perfectly fine. She broke off from her mother’s anxious grip and slowly reached out to the pitbull, eventually resting her hand on his head.

I always knew that there was a stigma around certain dogs. What warmed my heart was seeing how easy it can be to break that stigma, especially for our youth.

The same thing applies to the whole festival- for non vegans, it can seem like a hippie convention with “gross” food. It isn’t until you try it out that you really discover the event- or even the world of veganism.

I filmed the festival and interviewed some of the booths! To check it out, click on the link to my youtube channel or click on the video below:

Thank you for reading!

Hello everyone!

My name is Angelique and I am the current Miss Teenage Rockyview County. If you don’t know where that is (which many people don’t!) it is a small district in southern Alberta.

I was born and raised in the small town of Cochrane. This meant that as a child, I was left to explore the prairies and mountains due to there being very little to occupy time in my town. I attend high school the lovely Springbank community and I am a volunteer at my local animal shelter.

Growing up in a small cowboy town where everyone knows each other is what inspired me to create a community around my platform where everyone is welcome and part of a family! My platform currently revolves heavily around animal welfare. This is commonly accepted as a controversial topic, but without controversy, how is change supposed to happen?

I cannot wait to share my experiences as Miss Teenage Rockyview County will you all in the near future!

Xoxo,

Angelique
